Selection methodology:
STAGE 1 – Written Test
i. Shortlisted candidates based on the merit order percentage marks or Diploma in Engineering, will be called for Written Test. This would, however, be a matter of sole discretion of the Corporation. The written test will assess the candidates on their technical acumen and generic aptitude including quantitative aptitude, reasoning abilities, general awareness, and basic English language skills. For qualifying in the written test, overall cut-off marks and sectional cut-off marks would be decided by the Corporation with due relaxation for SC/PWD candidates, wherever relaxation is applicable. The cut-off marks may also vary depending on various posts and performance of the candidates. Candidates should meet both the overall and sectional cut-off marks of written test to be eligible to be considered for stage two. The Corporation reserves the right to define the cut-off marks for the written test. No queries will be entertained in this regard.
ii. Written Test will be conducted at Kochi. No request for a change in date of test or test centers etc. will be entertained for any reason whatsoever.
STAGE 2 – Skill Test
Candidates qualifying in the written test as per the cut-off marks decided by the Corporation will be called for Skill Test which will be held at Kochi. Skill Test shall be of ‘qualifying nature’ only. Only candidates qualifying in this test would be reckoned for empanelment. Selected candidates should meet all the notified eligibility conditions and final Selection will be subject to the selected candidates clearing document/certificate verification.
STAGE 3 – Pre-Employment Medical Test.
Final appointment of candidates will be subject to their meeting Medical Fitness norms & standards as per BPCL Pre-Employment Medical Examination / Medical standards as per Oil Industry Safety Directorate (OISD). The candidature of candidates will be provisional till appointment.

Selection Method:
  • Selections for engagement of Apprentices would be based on written test and personal interview. The written Test will be of ninety minutes duration & would carry a weightage of 85%. The maximum weightage for interview will be 15%.
  • The candidates will have to qualify successfully through each stage of the selection process i.e. Written Test and Personal Interview (Minimum 40%, relaxable by 5% for candidates from SC/ST/PwBD Categories against reserved positions) and Pre-employment medical fitness for being adjudged suitable for engagement.
  • Candidates are advised to ensure that they are medically fit as per IndianOil’s pre-employment medical standard. Selection Method:
  • Selection shall be on the basis of performance in Written Test of two hours duration & Personal Interview. 
  • The ratio of marks for Written Test and interview shall be 85:15 and a candidate will have to secure minimum 40% marks at each stage for qualifying the selection process. The minimum qualifying marks will be relaxed by 5% for candidates belonging to SC/ST/PwBD categories considered against reserved positions at each stage of the selection process.

  • A candidate can apply for an apprenticeship in any one of the Refinery units of his choice. Indian Oil has Refineries at Guwahati, Digboi, Bongaigaon (all 3 in Assam), Barauni (Bihar), Vadodara (Gujarat), Haldia (West Bengal), Mathura (Uttar Pradesh), Panipat (Haryana) and Paradip (Odisha).
  • Option for exercising the choice of a Refinery unit has been provided in the application menu (on-line application portal) which shall open at 10.00 hours on 16/10/2018 and close at 17.00 hours on 09/11/2018.
